*I own the land and the house, the tractor,
shed, tools and equipment. When the
community exists, members will own
everything (except personal property and
house sites) through the community
association that we will form.
And residents will purchase shares of the
whole. Each share will include their
privately-owned house lot, plus an undivided
interest (i.e. "use and enjoyment") in all the
common lands and facilities.
**John Deere 2006, model 970, with a
front-end loader model 300.
It has 5 implements: rotary mower, rototiller,
all-purpose plow, rock rake, and boxblade.
***The organic farming I have done here
has not been USDA certified, but that does
not mean we cannot apply for or receive
organic certification in the future. There
are a number of kinds of organic
certification, in addition to the USDA's
program. It would depend where we are at
with our production and our goals at any
given time.
Greetings,
Hope this message finds you all doing well and surviving in this
economically-challenging time! For now, the real-estate market
meltdown has definitely put the brakes on forming this intentional
ecovillage community. We're all sort of locked in place, it seems.
Hopefully, things will work out eventually, when enough people realize that the Mother Nature is the basis of all wealth, and that to take care of us, we must all work together to take care of her, too!
Meanwhile, if there are any individuals (or couples) who might like to rent a room here at Brokenfoot Ranch, please let me know. I'm looking for two or three people with whom to share my house. Anyone interested, please call me. I'll provide details to individuals who inquire.
Blessings to all!

18 November 2008 letter from Ms. Bailes to all who
responded to her latest radio segment:
Greetings,
Thank you for your calls following our interview on the
Sustainable Georgia program!
It's exciting to hear from so many new people interested in
sustainable living, organic agriculture, and community!
As you know, I've had to go to the step of offering Brokenfoot Ranch for sale.
Because after all this time of paying all the costs by myself,
my resources are dwindling to the point that I can't afford to keep
waiting for people to join the community.
Fortunately, I have the pleasure of working with Ms. Jennifer Spivey,
who is an "ecobroker" or green real estate agent.
She is very knowledgeable, dedicated, and professional,
working only with properties with outstanding ecological values and
the people who are interested in living in a sustainable,
ecologically-conscious manner.
So, as sad as it is to have to go to the step of
offering Brokenfoot Ranch for sale,
please be assured that the agrarian ecovillage community
that we want so much to happen IS STILL ON THE TABLE!
If people step forward to join, we can still do it!
Other options are also being sought, such as a conservation easement
and investor/buyers who are interested in land conservation
and the ecovillage concept. So we'll see.
Meanwhile, I'd like you to take a look, too--
Ms. Spivey has done an outstanding job in putting together
the information I am posting here.
Please take a few minutes to look over the details about the property
and the beautiful "Virtual Tour" on her site composed of
many photographs of my house. I hope you enjoy it!
Best wishes!
